My entry in the Slimline contest, a losing entry lol
However, these little contests are teaching me well. The bar is set and I hope I am equal to the task.

The blank is one of my own creations on a black chrome slimline.

That's what I say also .... keep at it !! . That's the way progress is made and it's the road to success.

These contests are worth entering because they force us to get things done on time and to a certain level of discipline and we often discover just how close we are to where we want to be !!

If I can, I would like to offer you abit of advice. Take it at the value you paid for it:) This goes for all who enter the contests, photos count more than you think. Also presentation. Your photo is way too dark to show the blank. At least the one here I did not remember your entry. Also lose the wood prop. There is no attachment to the pen you are showing. It is not a pen stand that at least has detail or character. An acrylic standard one would do better. OK I went back to see your pen and yes you did a better job lighting it up so you had that but the wood did nothing. Should have laid it on the white background would be better. But think of it this way you are going against your peers and you get to see how you stack up and take note as to what wins and try again in the summer. Good luck.

Well, there is nothing wrong at all with your pen making skills. Ok, so you can play around with lighting a bit. Before you rush out and buy all the fancy photo kit, just try and use natural non direct light. It's free and your camera phone doesn't care how many pics you delete. Also, never ever take anything to heart. Nobody here (except JT and me) ever deliberately insult anyone. 😘

Hey I resemble those remarks:):):) I agree with Skip about the lighting. It is probably the easiest thing to fix. Just keep at it you are doing fine.

I concur it was a fail in the competition for so many pictures. A simple white background ,pic cropped and a series of pics to choose from and present one helps every time.I felt your pain.

Cheers Peter.

So I went back and looked at your entry photo's Michael and they looked pretty good. These are dark but you know what to do to correct them. I would ask one thing though. Keep your background different from your subject matter. Too many posters here put a wood background with their wood pens. Well people like me see just one thing, sometimes, the bands around the blank. I've mentioned people that have color problems can't see their work and it's disappointing not to see what they have to offer. Some get it but a whole lot don't.

I commend you for entering the contest. From my perspective all of the entries in all of the categories were outstanding.
