I have other hobbies in addition to my addiction to pens and one is shooting targets with a pellet rifle. I bought the slightly used FX Crown .22 from a guy in Southern California and he gave me all of his hobby wood. One chunk was Amboyna burl as can be seen after cutting it to blanks.

Here is a Cabellero using the "free" wood along with a green box elder burl Atrax using wood bought from CSUSA. As luck would have it the amboyna pen body cracked, was disassembled, refinished with CA and after careful checking was judged as a keeper.

PS - the gun easily hits single dots made by a small sharpie from 20 yards. I have seen videos of skilled folks use this gun to hit exploding golf balls at 175 yards.

Oh, I thought you were selling a gun !! .... o_O:)😁 .... I love Amboyna burl so thought this was an opp to get some free !!! . What a let-down ! :mad:😁

Ambidextrous for everyone. The trigger is highly adjustable, two stage model with a very crisp release. Light but consistent.

I've got an FX Streamline, the "affordable" FX until the Dreamline replaced it. Amazing rifles!!
I love the green burl, and I'm assuming it's a dyed, stabilized blank? I made a Celtic pen for a friend with green stabilized burl, but the color was much more subdued than on the one you've shown. Did you do anything special to accentuate the green color, or is that just how it came out, from the blank you had purchased?

Cool ... for a while there I thought you cut up the stock of the pellet gun ... LOL.
I enjoy precision pellet guns for target shooting.
Some fellas at the gun club think a pellet gun could never out shoot their fancy .22.
They learn fast ... several have started shooting them ... lots of fun for a few pennies.
That wood looks fantastic ... love the details it has.

I shoot at the pistol section of my gun range with the FX Crown and my Gamo Urban .22. It has ranges from 10'-75'. Folks look at you funny when you set up a pellet rifle. I explain that the range rules allow for pellet and rim fire guns at the pistol section. After we retrieve targets during a cease fire, I win every time, it is never close. They beat me with stopping power. I finally have a rifle good enough that if a shot it off, it is for sure ME not the gun.
