Home grown tool rest for my PM1030

Hi Y’All,

To use hand held chisels on my metal lathe, I had to make a home grown tool rest. I started with a 6” tool rest from Rockler. For support I used a scrap of 45mmx45mm Bosch profile. I drilled a through hole for the post and tapped the end with M12 thread (standard for Bosch profiles) to clamp the post at the right height. I 3D printer an ABS block to protect the ways and used the clamp block from one of the supports that came with the lathe and a SHCS and T-nut to clamp all the pieces on the ways where I want them. The use of the T-nut allows me to set the distance to the centerline of the blanks.

Improvements in the works;
- a knob to clamp the tool rest post
- a way to clamp the pieces from above the ways so I don’t have to fuss underneath anymore.

I hope this helps those who want to do something similar.

Best Regards,
Edwin
