I guess this explains why the branches are coming out of the tree whenever we have a bit of wind. The holes are filled with sanding dust and thin CA. Dried the blank in the microwave 3 min. on defrost 1/2 hr cooling repeat twice. Blank was less than 8 percent moisture when finished. One worm managed to get out before being cooked the rest didn't

I went with the CA and sanding dust because it's easy and there were a lot of holes. (Add CA to the sandpaper while sanding at about 400 grit) May give some coffee grounds or brass filings a try on the next one. Got about 20 kits to do and they will be going to Canadian service members, don't want them all the same. Also have some fine glitter of various colours to try. When the blanks are free you can try anything and if you don't like the results turn it down to the brass and start over.
