I've seems several people turn agarita root burl pens and they looks great! I was wondering if anyone can tell me about how it turns, is it a species known for causing alergic reactions, and is it relatively easy to find? A buddy of mine said he got some off eBay awhile ago and had to pay an arm and a leg for it so I want to see if it would be worth the effort of tying to find some.

Thanks

Turning agarita

I just turned a very small bowl today, from a root that I dug up on my deer lease,in Brady Texas. I had a dust mask on but it still had a little irritation to it so I turned my big vac on and it was ok then. It turns OK a little catchy in side ,but the outside like for a pen use good. The limbs are very small, I'll try to find some larger ones next time that I am in Brady. I'd like to try some junk wood casting with it..
