What size bandsaw tires do I need?

I read the post about bandsaw size on wikipedia. I was wondering how I figure out the diameter. Is it diax3.14 or widthx3.14? I have a spectra with no documentation or serial number that I can see. I heard that the replacement has to be 2" shorter for a snug fit.

diameter is the distance across a circle, from one side to the other, going through the center of a circle.

so - stick a tape measure up to the bandsaw wheel, and measure.

but band saw tires are sold by diameter of the wheel they fit.
