Hi fellas,made this bowl for an anniversary gift.Walnut with crotch grain pattern,13x4. howards feed n wax,paste wax topcoat. I figure it to be a good fruit bowl.Don't think I can go much wider without a foot.

Nice looking bowl!

I seldom put a foot on my bowls but I always put a little 'dish' in the bottom so the bowl sits flat on the table.:)

Thanks fellas,I'm glad you like it.Only lost about 1" off the dia and width from the rough blank.

Doug, I dish mine a little as well.I was just making excuses for not maxing out the swing.

My wife asked me if I was going to fill them, I said no,I prefer to leave a natural void or bark inclusion.If it was a chunck that broke out,that I didn't thow out in angeer, I would have figured out how to fill it in.

Gorgeous bowl!!! I LOVE Black Walnut, always wonderful to turn and the outcome (such as yours!!!) is beautiful! Hope you and yours enjoy it as much as everyone else!
