Here is the first pen from the USS Forrestal (CV-59) wood.
I was able to obtain some wood off the Forrestal during her scrapping. According to the person I got it from, it came from one of the handrails and is redwood (there were wood handrails in officer's country).
Folks, I live in Texas and it is "Snipe" (a Navy term) hot in my garage so I was lucky to turn this one.
The pen kit I used is called a "Stretch Pen" and the plating is gun metal.
I also got a bunch of copper wire from the ship and plan on incorporating it in future pens.
