This isn't my usual small pen size turning project.. Honestly it's the first time I've done something on this scale.

This was turned from a Sycamore log I saved from a tree we trimmed in the yard. Cherry Sap wood on the end caps. Cocobolo segmenting and a finial made from some burl I found in my tub of mystery wood scraps.

The log was checking badly on the lower half so I chose to wrap that part in hemp cord.

Finish is wipe on poly.

I have an album of it from start to finish here.

The lathe, Drill press and may of the tools I used on this all came from my Grandfather. So yes I made this with his fathers tools.

Very well done, i really like the idea of using the threaded pvc, that could come in handy for many other things!

I've turned a couple of my urns using the threaded PVC... I think I like the black fittings better as on one I have the lid does show a little of the PVC and the white really stands out... think I need to take it apart and re-do it...
