Made this for a friend who attended the University of Houston. I used Holly and dyed quilted poplar. I was just amazed at how the quilting looks like a silk cloth. The white is of course Holly.

Awesome pen!! Any chance you would be willing to share how you were able to do the lettering? I would love to do one for a friend that is a Michigan fan.

I turned two wood blanks that had the hole drilled in them down to .55" diameter. That leaves about 3/32" of wood. Then I used the rotary attachment in my laser engraver to engrave and cut the lettering out. I know, cheating but it sure has been a fun process to figure out.
