Does anyone know of a informative site that shows the different types of lathe turning tools and what they look like and what they are primarily used for when turning?

Thanks in advance

This is Sorby's site...you should get all the info you need there. Of course there are lots of others but the manufacturer's/vendor's sites usually have a lot of info

Take a look at CSUSA's catalog. They have a tool selection guide on page 5 that pictures the tool and gives a description what the tool was designed for.

Along same line... I read somewhere about a turner that color coded his tools so he could pick them out with having to look at the blades...

Do you guys use this system or do like me and hunt til you find right tool[:D]

I only use 5 (and one have a different handle) so this is not an issue for me. When I am good [:D]...I have them in sequence anyway in my rack and know which is where.
