Turning Black Coral

I have a big container of black coral i'd like to make pens from.
Anyone know if you can turn black coral into pens?
I searched but didn't find anything regarding real coral.

Never have myself, but I'd expect the problem to be that coral (at least those I've seen) are very porous.

My thought would be to drill the blank, install the tubes, turn a little undersized, and then put into a resin-saver mold and recast with clear resin.
