I use it a lot when I make woodcarving knives. It's a great finish for knife handles. The first coat takes about 3 to 4 hours to dry. Second coat is a bit faster. Three coats are best. I did try it on a pen and it turned out ok but took forever to dry. It's a good durable finish if you don't mind the time and have a relatively clean environment. It does attract dust.

Takes a long time to dry. Works better on thicker wood than pens. We have used it, but students are to eager and do not want to take the time it takes for their finish to be applied.
