I was also confused by that, but I thought it got clearer when "Displaced Canadian" (the triviameiser of the day) said:
"There is a thread that asks this question in the marketing forum the most popular answer is the right one. " Emphasis added by me.

I mis-read the question and thought it was looking for an average price PER PEN... not in total sales. I searched threads for about an hour, and easily found the total sales poll, but did not think that was what they were looking for... Bummer, it's the first day of the trivia contest that I could not find what I thought was the answer...
