This is a winged box. The body is Black Wallnut, the top is Maple Burl, and the finial is stabilized Holly. Enjoy, Russell

Great form and choice of materials. I've played around with interrupted turning on far less extreme examples than these wings, and never really got the hang of it, so really appreciate the skill involved when I see it well done.

Your winged box looks like it would have been a propeller on the lathe -- did it, at least, keep you cool while turning?

Beautiful work, by the way, and a very elegant design.

Russell, that is a beautiful Lidded Bowl, a great job of proportioning, all 3 pieces work so well. I would love to see that in person, are you going to show it at Turning Southern Style, I want to go again next year.
