Got a quick question. How do you determine what size and pitch, set or whatever when you have a fountain pen section and you want to cut threads to match it.....I know it's probably an odd size but how do I figure out?

I would use a thread gauge. It usually comes with a good tap & die set. You use the gauge to find the thread size on the FP section, then use the matching tap to cut the threads.

yeah the diameter may be funky, but the pitches are pretty standard. Most likely either a .75 or 1mm.

Once you determine the pitch, you can back into the diameter. Measure it with calipers and subtract either 1.5 or 2mm (double the pitch you determined) If I remember this correctly. Thinking of it, I bet it's a little less than double since the height would be less than the hypotenuse.
