Just finished this one for a person who builds fishing rods. Its thread.

How did you create the top?

The top is thread used for making fishing rods. It comes in different sizes and colors. The black is size "D" and the rest is size "A". The metallic is used in fly tying. It took a week working an hour or so st a time to make.

Yes,
I used rod wrapping techniques I learned when I was in high school.

That is a great looking pen I was thinking of doing it after i get set up for casting I used to build custom fishing rods when i lived in the mid west. but where i live now no call for them so got in to turning pen and stuff .

I agree with you about the bottom half. Customer supplied the antler and wanted to have it as part of the pen

I'd slap that customer! Darn pen is like beauty and the beast. I wish I could wrap a pen like that as it's quite inspirational, and I want to gag at the antler half. Got to be honest. At least since it's a two piece pen, you can replace the bottom half if you can talk him into it.
