Hey guys,

Today is mineral stained afzelia burl with the really rare occurence of yellow/black colors, this wood is in my top 3, sooooo beautiful! It is open grained and gave me a hard time, I went thru at least 40 coats of ca glue with a lot of sanding! The result is rewarding!

As always, clicky the thumbnails!

Thanks,

Charles

For some reason this reminds me of the painting "Starry Night"..... Very nice looking pen!

Your close-ups are without some of the best I've seen anywhere! Grain structure is awesomenessering:biggrin:

Question: How far do you need to under-turn the blank in order to put 40coats of CA on it? I get 6coats of meduimCA and I got a LOT of thickness built up arlready....

Scott (so purty, looks almost fake) B

Since the grain is opened I have to built up the glue in the small pores and there is so much sanding involved. I would say I turn 1/128" of the bushings.
