This is my first attempt at casting my own resin blanks. This is dyed, dried grass cast in a clear polyester resin. The inside of the hole was painted with acrylic paint. It didn't really turn out very well -- I think I need to pack the grass much denser, but I learned some things in the process.

Steve (kf4knf):

I don't really know what kind of grass it is. I bought it pre-packaged from a craft store and it was just labeled something like "Dried Floral".

Barry,
I worked in a juvenile detention center and know that when you stuff grass into a cigar shell, you get what they call a "blunt". Just keep it away from fire.
Cool pen. I love the ingenuity (sp?) of it. Keep on trying, but I'll bet you can sell that one. A friend sent me some cores of pine cones. I wonder how they'd be dyed. Now you have me thinking. Good job.
