I usually use TBC bushings (got mine from lazerlinez) to get the blank close then remove the bushings and carefully mount between the dead and live center and turn to size measuring with calipers.
I use a homemade system similar to the PSI system with the stubby mandrel ends on the "driver" and "live center" end. It is a system that I have used for decades for call making and other turnings, including stuff made on my metal lathe.
It also uses the standard kit bushings, no special bushings needed.
