I bought some Sweet Gum Ball blocks from Brad Swearingen (jbswearingen), cut them into blanks and tuned one on a Navigator yesterday. Not the easiest blanks to turn but after a bit of perseverance I got going. Unfortunately, had a few blowouts and some of the gum balls started to pit. Not wanting to completely start over, I filled the holes and blowouts with some crushed abalone shell I had on hand from CSUSA and finished the pen.

I painted the tube holes with green Testor's acrylic model paint. Next time, I will definitely use a bit more CA while turning and finish with several coats of CA rather than just a MM/PlastX finish.

C&C welcome

I think you made a good save on this one. It is hard sometimes to know sometimes what to do but you can almost always save a pen if you try hard enough.
