I gave a demo and talk to my local woodturning club this past Saturday. I brought my set-up and explained my process.
Surprisingly there was great interest in the process and a number of members asked if I would do some stable for them.
I had not expected much interest but was wrong on that count.
I like to joke to hold an audiences attention. One of my jokes was that no one likes rotted wood. But us woodturners can stable wood, call it spalted and double the price. Lots of laughs but, fact is, we can, and do, do that.
Downside, as part of the demo I stabled blanks and small parts for some of the member. One nice blank of buckeye burl went home with someone other than the rightful owner. I'm sure it will make a beautiful pen for the thief.
