Stuck box top fix?

I made a small trinket box for one of my daughters from figured walnut, lid over style. The lid was a snug fit while testing but nothing to worry about. After using the base as a jam chuck to finish the top of the lid, I was unable to remove it. I've really worked on it and that thing is stuck good. Any tricks to removing the top without ruining it? The spindle was dry so I'm at a bit of a loss as to why it got stuck so tight.

Try heating the base up with a blow dryer. Do it slowly an the base may just expand enough to free the lid.
