HOw do I hide the foil edge on my steampunk blanks. the tape leaves a crease and id like to camouflage it or make it disappear as best I can. do you overlap the foil or cut it and make a "butt" seam? how do you get a good butt seam also.

My first attempts showed way too much of where they meet and it doesn't look very good. thanks for any help

I usually overlap the foil - causing an obvious crease which looks like the "texturing" of the rest of the blank. On the ends, I overlap and simply cut off with a razor blade/exacto before casting.

Are you doing a "smooth" look?

Pics would help.

When I do foil, I emboss the edge that will show with a pounce wheel. that way it fits in with the 'riveted' look. At that point, however I seem to end up putting bright colors and flowers on the shiny foil, and well, any 'steampunk' look is gone.

My wife and kids dig'em though...
