Here are two Gran Torino pens with spalted pecan wood. This wood came from a huge pecan tree that was blown down in a storm at the house we lived in, in Arkansas 10 years ago. Wish I had a stabilizing system as I had to start over 3 times when the punky wood came apart or sanded out od round. But I persevered and think they came out ok. Please forgive the Iphone pics. All comments and critiques welcome.

Beautiful wood. I hear you, too. I am forever trying to turn out a piece of wood that should be stabilized. Sometimes we win one and sometimes the woods wins.
