This is a hollow form that I recently finished. I was given the piece of wood and it was a chore to turn. I left the top a little thicker than I like because it had some checking in it, and I really didn't want to find out how hard it would hit me WHEN it blew up. Finished with spray lacquer. Comments are always welcome, good or bad. Thanks for looking. Russell

Looks like pecan. I have used spalted, wormy pecan many times. Used coffee to fill the worm holes in one bowl that sold for $600 in Taos a while back.

Andy it depends on how BIG of a chunk you get hit with...DON'T ask how I know.

Well, if you'd send that black beast up to the lake to live, you wouldn't have to worry about getting hit with HUGE pieces:)

I haven't even got to lay eyes on the black one yet, and I still have lathe envy.
