I just finished this last night. I have been working on it for a little over a week. It was fun, but was very hard. The whole bowl is end grain and is a slow process. I turned it outboard on my 1642 Jet. I made a tool rest holder for projects like this.

Nice looking bowl. And probably about as good as that piece was going to get. Perfect example of the trade offs. Cool ambrosia pattern, but tearout from end grain. Took guts to do it IMO and it paid off.

Amazing (dripping/melting) figure in that wood and a great looking bowl. Pardon my ignorance, but is that the natural color?

Also, how big is the bowl?

Barry the bowl is a natural color. It is 17"+ wide and about 6" thick. The bowl changed color a lot when I applied the Walnut oil finish. Thanks for the comments.
