I worked with a friend to make this sign for another friend from church. I did the woodwork (what's hanging from the chains, but not the supporting frame) and she did the painting. It's made from cypress, so it'll last a long time.

Nice work! Glad to see you used Cypress. Will last a long time.

When you were carrying the sign out, did you have your helper bang two coconuts together to make the horse gallop sound?
 
Yup, that's cypress alright. I've found a spindle gouge to be the best way to handle those types of woods. I use my sheppach wet/dry grinder to hone them and I can typically get fantastic cuts so long as I don't get in a hurry.

Who did you hire to make the shrubbery?

Said Nee?

HEAD KNIGHT: Firstly, you must find... another shrubbery!

ARTHUR: Not another shrubbery!

HEAD KNIGHT: Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place
it here beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get a
two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

RANDOM: A path! A path! Nee!

HEAD KNIGHT: Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must cut
down the mightiest tree in the forest... with... a herring!

ARTHUR: We shall do no such thing!

HEAD KNIGHT: Oh, please!

ARTHUR: Cut down a tree with a herring? It can't be done.
 
True story, that knight was dyslexic. He was supposed to say "In".
Uggghhhhhh!!!!!!!

Matt, I sure hope that wasn't from memory...

Ahhhh, my red striped canarywood is in for X-cutting. Back to work.

Lol, Rob, I had to look it up on the net (see the first comment in the post)--- now the line about "slightly higher so you get a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle." gets thrown around at work every now and then, so even folks who haven't seen it know that line.

Right now we are building and trimming a huge wooden frame around an exposed elevator shaft in a new faculty building, and every now and then the building contractor will come and tell us how beautiful the woodworking is, and when we are done, build another right beside it, "only slightly higher so you get a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle."
