I thought someone might be interested to see some pics of some timber I cut up recently, its common name is Red Beech, aka Dillenia Alata.Dillenia alata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There seems to be very little useful information on the internet about this tree and its timber.
My Grandfather used a lot of this stuff to build furniture for his house, my Mother still has most of it. It is lovely timber to work with.
