My other money pit (extra large money pit) is building and flying RC helicopters. I decided to reconstruct one of the screwdrivers I use on my helicopters. I'm waiting on pen parts so I needed something to turn... right?

I made this from Box Elder Burl and a scrap piece of Amboyna Burl for the end cap. There's also a segmented piece in the handle that keeps the individual bits in separate slots. For the finish, I just waxed it and called it good enough. The cap has a nice tight friction fit, but not too tight. I had to drill a small hole through the cap to allow air to escape the handle otherwise air pressure made it difficult to get the cap on. It turned out very nice especially considering I had no clue what I was doing.

Never mind the screwdriver, let's see some of the RC helicopters ;-)

Helicopters? A lot of work and money goes into these but they are addicting.

And the big guy... TRex 550E Flybarless swinging a 39" main rotor disc.

I also have highly modified Trex 500 Flybarless under construction. Like turning wood, there's always one more build to do and one more skill to master.
