A Beaufort Sirocco in Laburnum. Commission order made from customers own wood. Finished simply with danish oil.

A very plain, dull timber... just what the customer wanted! :good:

In spite of the even grains, the pen is very appealing!

You don't always need a burl or highly figured blank to result in a great pen. This is a good example - a simply nice blank, matched with a great kit!

Well done - Thank you for sharing.

Edit: I also like Danish Oil for a finish.

Thanks for your comments guys.

Mark - I agree, and in the hand it looks pretty elegant I believe. For myself, I'm quite pleased with the overall appearance. However, really the point is that the tree has been nurtured by the same family in Edinburgh for the last 60 years or more, and now it's met it's demise they wanted a few mementos. This is one of several pens I've made for them from the wood they supplied.
