The seam ripper kit I have has a single cutter and that slides into a nylon bushing that screws into a metal base. No matter how tight I turn the bushing and cutter it can be pulled from the bushing.

Anyone found that over time they loosen up enough to just fall out? Are there replacement cutters available? Would you glue them in with CA to stabilize them?

Thanks,

Montmill

Being able to pull out shouldn't be a big issue. The question is, will it push in under pressure in use? Beartooth woods sells replacement blades.

I believe it's the Berea ones your working with. The pennstate ones have a solid blade unit.

Thanks Dan. I checked and they bottom out so they can't go any deeper in the handle with use. I think with normal use they'd stay put and being able to change them to a sharper one is a good option.

I'd point out that feature when I sold or gifted them. It makes a good selling point and will avoid someone thinking it broke if they happen to pull it out.
