I have some crosscut sapele blanks that I want to get turned into pens. I will probably work out a trade of blanks for pens once I get some questions answered. Just to qualify my question I do not make pens. We are in the cabinet business. So my questions are from what we see when we finish the wood.
I have attached a picture of the blank that I need advice on. When we put a clear laquer finish on this wood it brings out the amber and brown contrast in the wood. However, I sent some blanks out and the pens turned out very nice, but the color variation was not there.
What finishing technique would you recommend to bring out the true color of the this wood?

Thanks.
