Well I finally put out another fire this weekend and finished my grand daughters craddle. Solid Red Oak with red oak stain and 4 coats of clear poly gloss (Minwax)
The entire craddle was hand made including the spindles, caps and the pin to lock the craddle from swinging. The pin is made out of maple and deer antler.

What a nice family hierloom. Just a thought to share, I have been mounting a small brass plate inside it whenever some little one uses it to have a kind of record for the family. A hundred years from now I imagine someone staring at the cradle and history in awe.
