Ok chopped of a dead branch on the bush out front and got this pen out of it. I could not drill the center so I quartered it and got this nice little slimline out of it. The plant is a Red Bird of Paradise and I thought it had a nice grain. Anyways let know what you think of it and it has a CA?BLO finish 4 coats. I included the wood to show you the grain.

The wood does have an interesting grain, I think you did a nice job on the pen also, and good price on the wood, Hard to beat a price like that, just don't be chopping down shrubs in BLM parks, they get their cheeks real tight.

Nice looking pen

Here in Oz bird of Paradise is only a small plant something like a ginger plant so I was surprised to see such a big piece.
