Does anyone else rework and refinish their earlier models?
I took apart this one and reworked the finsh because it had dull spots.
This was one of the earlier ones that was done using BLO and CA and that was often the problem.
Also, this is Myrtle burl which is oily to begin with.
Looks better now, I can assure you. :)

I have redone a couple of my earlier CA finish attempts, when upon inspection prior to shipping they didn't meet my current standards. What looked good at the time, doesn't look as good now, under the eyes of experience.

My first pens had a shellawax finish, so I re-did those once I figured out CA. Not my very first one, though... that one is still in all it's original glory.

Depending on the pen I'm making, I still use Shellawax on the harder woods, just because I like the feel of the wood and the harder woods don't scratch or dent so easily. CA does a wonderful job of stabilizing and protecting the softer woods and burls though.
