I hang my turned blanks from a wire attached to the rear view mirror in my truck. One to two sunny days and they are bright purple again. Keep an eye on them, do not let them stay too long or they will darken again. Also too much heat might crack them.

Rub the blanks down with white vinegar or some diluted muriatic acid (I use the muriatic, diluted on teaspoon to a 1/4 cup of water) and watch the color you get. Looks sweet!
after i am done turning and sanding to 1500 grit i use the propane torch on purpleheart.
I use the torch to get the real dark purple(careful may crack if it gets too hot). after i get the desired purple color i walk away for 10 mins to let the wood cool down completely. after 10 mins i finish sanding the blank with micro mesh and put finish on it.
