Purple Heart and Walnut Yo-Yo

I found a good deal on a good sized off cut of Purple heart this week and thought it would be perfect of the Yo-Yo kit I've had on the shelf for months.

I used the PSI kit Chrome kit..

Finish is CA polished with Micromesh. I can't find my 12,000 grit so I only got up to 8000 on this project..

It's interesting how much darker the Purple Heart has gotten in just one day.
Maybe it's just the lighting in my office but I swear it looks much better than it did yesterday fresh off the lathe.

I swear I left a comment on this yoyo earlier today! Sometimers is getting me in my old age.. Anyway, that is a great looking yoyo. Sadly there are many kids today that don't even know what they are. I've built several and they are fun to make and play with. Found out I can still do some tricks. Have you tried one like the ones YOYOSpin makes (yoyospin.com)? They are great fun to make also.

Wish I had a laser cutter and indexing head like he has.. My wife didn't approve the $4,000 purchase request this year. lol.
