Taking a break from my comfort zone and trying to learn new things... I recently purchased some new JoWo #8 steel nibs, and trying to figure out how to work with them was the challenge of the last few days.
Here's what I've come up with. The result is somewhat what I had in mind but a few things aren't working out as I had hoped.
- section, after a few tries I think I've figured out how to make it (M10x1 for body threads) and keep them at a reasonable size. The nib is BIG.
- step-less body kinda works to keep the size down, fit to the section is not too bad, but not necessarily convinced that will be the best possibility.
- cap... bleh, not working. I used M14x1 for the body/cap threads and while the dimensions work, the fit is clumsy. It might get better with a triple start M14 but definitely something to revisit.
- the nib feels really nice, the ebonite feed might help as well.
- last but not least, the new Pelikan ink looks nice in that color range, turquoise with a hint of green.

Clean! Not be pedantic, but those nibs are made by the Indian company "Magna Carta," rather than jowo. I have a couple myself that I've yet to do anything with. Those are supposed to be based off the bock 8 housing, however the nib itself is longer than a bock 8. Hopefully the manufacturing inconsistencies that the nib housings had have been remedied.
 
Seems this prototype was useful, it gives a nice idea of what will be a success. Always fun to push the boundaries.
Where did you get a steel Jowo #6, btw? I can only get gold - and expensive - ones.

I bought these from the same place I get the JoWo #6 so I assumed they were JoWo. You are correct, they are manufactured by Magna Carta. I used it without doing any tuning and it felt great from the start. So n=1 but so far so good.
 
These dropped at the Baltimore pen show earlier in the spring, and that first batch had some pretty substantial inconsistencies with the threading and the nipple being too large to put a converter on. It sounds like Brian Gray (owner of meister) was able to get Magna Carta to fix their inconsistencies

So, you are saying you don't know the secret handshake??
They have very recently become available, check this video from Brian. They are more expensive than the #6 for sure but more affordable than the gold/platinum #8 :)

Same thread size as Bock #8, m10x0.5. I was somewhat surprised by that initially, for once I thought Bock and JoWo were using the same threads. But as John explained above, these companies were not directly involved in the making of that nib, Magna Carta seems to have selected the Bock housing and fitted their own #8.
