Depends on how it is stabilized. I just bought some "stabilized" spalted Maple on eBay from a seller who told me she used some very expensive stuff to stabilize it and that it takes a week to do. The blanks smelled like kerosene and when I sand them I get this dark brown gunk on the sandpaper. The blanks are fairly punky and whatever she uses is worthless. I would have been better off getting them unstabilized. First and last purchase from that person.

If they are professionally stabilized it costs nearly that much per blank to have them stabilized. How they are stabilized is definately key.
