i have had a few requests for a look at the type of cones i used. from the information i have found i think they are western yellow pine. these trees are all over the city and they grow very tall and the needles are long. i hope this will help you all.

I think that is also called ponderosa pine - Grows along the Rocky Mountains and the Black Hills of South Dakota on through to northern Arizona. Nice tree with large cones.

HEHE Rocky Mountains - what are those?? (live in CO)

I might be able to find some good cones this weekend on my next camping/fishing trip. If I gather some up I will try and make a post and if anyone needs them maybe I can ship a few.

Cones from Sugar Pines would be nice, those things can get to be 10" long. They're pretty common near where my aunt lives in No. California.
