I tried to...
I tried to pack as many pine cones into the casting tray as I could while pouring various amounts of mica tinted resin being careful to warm the resin and pouring it in such a way as to have the resin soak into the fans of the the pine cones. What I need to do now is experiment with various types of open and unopened cones to see which produces the most desirable effects once turned. I was inspired by a fellow that won awards for his blanks but am drawing a blank at where and who made the examples I had seen?? (no pun intended!!)
Anyways, that was a small batch that yielded 3 large blanks approx. 1.25 inches by 5.5 in. Time to learn to make my own molds! Any advice out there?
