I would like to try and make a peppermill, but when I looked at the instructions for making one of the Woodcraft kits, it mentions using a conical plug. For the stupid question, what is a conical plug and where can I find one? Thanks for any and all replies.

Follow Ed's instructions... they are pretty comprehensive... I use a jam chuck on both ends of my mills... one that screws on to the headstock spindle to drive the body, the other is turned to fit into the 1 3/4 opening at the base of the body and has a conical indentation to take the 60 deg point that came with my live center. I don't make the standard mills that are shown in Ed's instructions, but for all practical purposes, his instructions will translate to both the standard and the crush/grind that I make.
