I'm new to pen turning having only turned about 10 of them. I was gluing in three tubes to three blanks. 2 were Berra sierras and 1 was a Lazerlinez Liberty. The diameters of the tubes were the same but the Liberty tube was slightly longer. I looked on Lazerlinez website and they advertise the liberty tube as being "sierra length." Can anyone explain?

All things are made to tolerances. How much was "slightly longer"? If it was a hundredth of an inch (0.010) or less, probably within tolerance.

The difference results in a difference in protrusion of the refill when extended.

I wish I would've measured but I didn't. It was easy to see it was longer. I have another tube and I'll measure that one tomorrow. I know the tube length effects the protrusion which was why I was surprised it was different.
