I found a tutorial online for this emergency sewing kit using a pen blank. Threads wrap around the little turned "spools" and a needle or needles fit inside. The pictures I'm posting have some thin wire wrapped around because I don't know where my wife keeps her thread. Not yet but I'm going to try. I think they'll have to be hand chased. The large ID is only 9/16.

Smallest I have done is .750 as that is the OD of cutter. If you could find smaller OD cutter it would be easy.

Ken Redlinetool.com has small 60 degree cutters that would work, little pricey!!
