I made this pen for my grandfather out of olive wood. The funny thing is I had the tube glued in but I looked at the wood and set it aside thinking, man this doesn't look like it'll have any good grain. Tried a piece of curly honduran mahogany and I tore it out! Dummy, so I decided to give this one a shot, i'm extremely happy w/ the finish, my 6 or 7 ca finish and it is like glass! I know my grandfather will appreciate the work, he was a pattern maker for Bethelem steel and gotta work w/ wood all day! Lucky! He wasn't a big lathe guy though, more of a carver. Sorry guys sometimes I like to rant, well i'll shut my trap and finally show u the pen!

You can never go wrong with OW. I use it alot and it is probably one of my favorite woods. I love the smell also. Looks like a first rate pen and I'm sure he will love it.
