i made this 2 weeks ago for my mom. the wood is oregon myrtlewood.
this oil lamp is on the closeout(discontinued) sale page at woodturners catalog online.

Oregon myrtlewood turns like a dream to me, just love turning it.

I like the kit. just wish that i could get other colors for the lamp shade. the instructions online say to use a 1 3/8" fostner bit for the hole in the wood. 1 3/8" hole is actually too big of a diameter hole.
