Nice pen Carl,
That was an interesting adaptation of the slim.
Can you describe (or close up pic) the centerband.
I cannot quite make out from the picture if you have turned a loose centerband from matching wood, or if you simply made a grove to simulate the top of the centerband.
I really like it but I am afraid I cannot describe it well.

Hi,it is part of the top blank,just a suptle cut to make it look like a center band,i find it easier to make it part of top,if i want a diff. accent color i would just glue a sq.of wood on and turn
