Old waterman question

I have my dad's Old waterman pen/pencil set from the late "30's.

does anyone have an idea what size lead the pencil uses? I've tried 5 & 7 mm. No works.

Also I would like to restore. Is it an OK idea to buff? Or would this further compromise the plastic or celluloid blanks?

Any help is appreciated. I'm just south of the novice level in the old writing instruments.

You may want to send the pen and pencil to a professional restorer. There are several you can find by googling.

I think it is .9mm, but not sure. I went through that several years ago and I think it was the .9mm we wound up using.
