Ever had a refill on a kit you pulled out of the back of the bin that refused to start writing? Its not that its out of ink, the viscous ink inside has simply oozed to the side of the tube and away from the ball tip. Put it tip down into a cup of near boiling water and let it sit a while. Ink melts and flows down to the tip, doesnt take much to start working after that.

I can remember just taking my lighter out and holding to the tip for a second. Didn't want to hold it too long tho'. Lol

Yeah, from experience it will erupt ink out the top. Nice thing about the hot water it will move all the ink down, not just the tip end. Cup of hot water out of the Keurig does a great job.

I have also put the tip in just enough IPA to cover the tip and leave it for a few minutes. I guess that just dissolves the dried ink. Heating in the water as you suggest sounds like a better fix.
